About Cathy

Cathy has been a leader in professional golf for over 25 years. Her career began with playing aspirations and in the early 90’s she played on The Futures Tour, Central Florida Challenge, and The Player’s West Tour. She discovered her love for teaching while working at a club in Atlanta and joined the LPGA as a Teaching and Club Professional. Cathy came back to New England and became the Director of Instruction at Middleton Golf Course where she led the instruction program for 10 years. The owners of the Ferncroft Country Club recruited her to bring Cathy MacPherson Golf to their facility, where non-members and members alike could experience her coaching expertise. She begins her 17th season in 2023.

Cathy was one of the first to achieve certification in Dr. Rick Jensen’s, “Certified Golf Coaches Association” program. She was also one of the first LPGA Members selected to join the Proponent Group; an invitation only group of leading instructors from around the world.

Cathy is a Class “A” member of the LPGA and is a Lead Coach with The Golf Channel Academy. She has appeared several times alongside Damon Hack on The Golf Channel’s “Morning Drive” show as the Featured Coach of the Week. Cathy has created more than 30 Video Golf Tips for the Golf Channel. She also appeared in the LPGA video tips series, “Secrets of a Champion.”

Cathy was on the Golf for Women Magazine “Top 50 Teachers” list from 2000 – 2008, she has been nationally recognized as a Top Teacher in the Region by, “Golf Magazine,” nominated for the “Top 100 Teachers in America” by Golf Magazine and has been listed on the “Best Teacher in Your State” list by Golf Digest.

Outside of golf, Cathy is a specialist in the world of philanthropy. She is an active member of the National Auctioneers Association, the Massachusetts Auctioneers Association, and  has been a licensed Benefit Auctioneer since 2008. Cathy has worked for many non-profit organizations raising millions of dollars with her expertise in auctioneering and consulting. She served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the National MS Society’s Greater New England Chapter for more than 15 years and continues to conduct their annual Milestones Gala.

Cathy is an award-winning member of Toastmasters International. She has won speech competitions at the Club, Area, Division, and District levels and appeared in the Toastmasters International Magazine.

Prior to entering the golf profession, Cathy was a professional trumpet player based in the New Hampshire seacoast area. She performed solo works, played in brass ensembles, wind ensembles, local theater orchestras and New Hampshire’s Seacoast Big Band. When she is not working, she enjoys gardening and spending time with family and friends.
